YELLOW SUBMARINE

In the town where I was born lived a man who sailed to sea

And he told us of his life, in the land of submarines.

So we sailed on to the sun, till we found the sea of green

And we lived beneath the waves in our Yellow Submarine

We all live in a Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, we all live in a Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine.

And our friends are all abord

Many more of them live next door

And the band begins to play.

We all live in a Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, we all live in a Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine.

As we live a life of ease,

Ev'ry one of us has all we need

Sky of blue and sea of green

In our Yellow Submarine.

We all live in a Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, we all live in a Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, we all live in a Yellow Submarine,

Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine,

We all live in a Yellow Submarine, Yellow Submarine.

DINNER TICKETS

My mother always looked

For dinner tickets

In the breast pocket

Of my grey school shirt.

Dried mud

Falls from my work boots.

Zigzag sculptures

Leave a trail as I head

For the woods.

She found a folded drawing

Of a naked woman.

My father asked me about it.

Chainsaw makes easy work

Of young birch blocking my path.

For days I denied all knowledge

Of the shocking work of art.

Resting on a fallen log,

I wipe the sweat from my brow.

Admitting I had made the drawing,

I wept.

ONCE UPON A LONG AGO

Picking up scales and broken chords

Puppy dog tails in the house of Lords

Tell me Darling, what can it mean?

Making up moons in a minor key

What have those tunes got to do with me?

Tell me Darling, where have you been?

Once upon a long ago

Children searched for treasure

Nature's plan went hand in hand with pleasure.

Such pleasure.

Blowing balloons on a windy day

Desolate dunes with a lot to say

Tell me darling, what have you seen?

Once upon a long ago

Children searched for treasure

Nature's plan went hand in hand with pleasure.

My pleasure.

Playing guitars on an empty stage

Counting the bars of an iron cage

Tell me Darling, what can it mean?

Picking up scales and broken chords

Puppy dog tails in the house of Lords

Tell me Darling, What can it mean?

Once upon a long ago...

SHE CAME IN THROUGH THE BATHROOM WINDOW

Oh Look out

She came in through the bathroom window

protected by a silver spoon

But now she sucks her thumb and wonders

by the banks of her own lagoon

Didn't anybody tell her

Didn't anybody see

Sundays on the phone to Monday

Tuesdays on the phone to me

She said she'd always been a dancer

she worked fifteen clubs a day

And though she thought I knew the answer

well I knew but I could not say

And so I quit the police department

and got my self a steady job

And though she tried her best to help me

she could steal but she could not rob

Didn't anybody tell her

Didn't anybody see

Sundays on the phone to Monday

Tuesdays on the phone to me

Oh Yeah

JUNK

Motor cars, handle bars

Bicycles for two

Broken hearted jubilee

Parachutes, army boots

Sleeping bags for two

Sentimental jamboree

Buy Buy

Says the sign in the shop window

Why Why

Says the in Junk the yard

Candlesticks, building bricks

Some old and new

Memories for You and Me

Buy Buy

Says the sign in the shop window

Why Why

Says the in Junk in the Yard

PENNY LANE

In Penny Lane there is a barber showing photographs

of ev'ry head he's had the pleasure to know

And all the people that come and go stop and say "Hello"

On the corner is a banker with a motor car

the little children laugh at him behind his back

And the banker never wears a mack in the pouring rain

Very strange Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

There beneath the blue suburban skies

I sit, and meanwhile back

in Penny Lane there is fireman with an hourglass

and in his pocket in a portrait of the Queen

He likes to keep his fire engine clean it's a clean machine

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

A full of fish and finger pies

in summer meanwhile back

behind the shelter in the middle of the roundabout

the pretty nurse is selling poppies from a tray

And tho' she feels as if she's in a play she is anyway

In Penny Lane the barber shaves another customer

we see the banker sitting waiting for a trim

And then the fireman rushes in from the pouring rain

Very strange Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

There beneath the blue suburban skies

I sit, and meanwhile back

Penny Lane is in my ears and in my eyes

There beneath the blue suburban skies

Penny Lane.

IVAN

Two doors open

On the eighteenth of June

Two Babies born

On the same day

In Liverpool

One was Ivan

The other - me

We met in adolescence

And did the deeds

They dared us do

Jive with Ive

The ace on the bass

He introduced to me

At Woolton fete

A pal or two

And so we did

A classic scholar he

A rocking roller me

As firm as friends could be

Cranlock naval

Cranlock pie

A tear is rolling

Down my eye

On the sixteenth of August

Nineteen ninety-three

One door closed

Bye-bye Ivy

THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD

The long and winding road that leads to your door

Will never disappear,I've seen that road before

It always leads me here,

Lead me to your door

The wild and windy night that the rain washed away

Has left a pool of tears crying for the day,

Why leave me standing here,

Let me know the way.

Many times I've been alone

And many times I've cried,

Anyway you'll never know

The many ways I've tried

But still they lead me back to the long winding road

You left me standing here a long long time ago

Don't leave me waiting here,

Lead me to your door

Still they lead me back to the long winding road

You left me standing here a long long time ago

Don't keep me waiting here,

Lead me to your door

THE FOOL ON THE HILL

Day after day alone on a hill,

the man with a foolish grin is keeping perfectly still

But nobody wants to know him,

they can see that he's just a fool

And he never gives an answer

But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down

And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.

Well on the way, head in a cloud,

the man of a thousand voices talking perfectly loud

But nobody ever hears him

Or the sound he appears to make

And he never seems to notice

But the fool on the hill sees the sun going down

And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.

And nobody seems to like him

they can tell what he wants to do

And he never shows his feelings

But the fool on the hill

Sees the sun going down and the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.

He never listens to them

He know that they're the fools

They don't like him

The fool on the hill sees the sun going down

And the eyes in his head see the world spinning round.

THIS IS THE WAY

This is the way we put out the candle.

Farewell to childhood.

Deep in the wild wood a fire goes out,

And what are we left with

Now we are grown up?

This is the way we pull up the anchor.

Goodbye to romance.

Out on the ocean a good ship is lost,

And what are we left with

Now we are grown up?

CARRY THAT WEIGHT

Boy you're gonna carry that weight

Carry that weight a long time.

Boy you're gonna carry that weight

Carry that weight a long time.

I never give you my pillow

I only send you my invitations and in the

middle of the celebrations I break down

Boy you're gonna carry that weight

Carry that weight a long time...

HEY JUDE

Hey Jude don't make it bad

Take a sad song and make it better

Remember to let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better

Hey Jude don't be afraid

You were made to go out and get her

The minute you let her under your skin

Then you begin to make it better

And anytime you feel the pain

Hey Jude refrain

Don't carry the world upon your shoulders

For well you know that it's a fool

Who plays it cool by making his world a little colder

Hey Jude don't let me down

You have found her now go and get her

Remember to let her into your heart

Then you can start to make it better

So let it out and let it in

Hey Jude begin,

You're waiting for someone to perform with

And don't you know that it's just you

Hey Jude you'll do

The movement you need is on your shoulder

Hey jude don't make it bad

Take a sad song and make it better

Remember to let her under your skin

Then you'll begin to make it better,

better, better, better, better, better,

Hey Jude...

YESTERDAY

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away

Now it looks as though they're here to stay

Oh I believe in yesterday

Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be

There's a shadow hanging over me

Oh yesterday came suddenly

Why she had to go I don't know

She wouldn't say

I said something wrong now I long for yesterday

Yesterday all my troubles seemed so far away

Now it looks as though they're here to stay

Oh I believe in yesterday

Why she had to go I don't know

She wouldn't say

I said something wrong now I long for yesterday

Yesterday love was such an easy game to play

Now I need a place to hide away

Oh I believe in yesterday
